Tom Myers

Tom Myers received his Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence, fol­lowed by his Mas­ters of Sci­ence, in Bio­log­i­cal Science/​Botany from Michi­gan State Uni­ver­si­ty. His inter­est in wine­mak­ing brought him west, to the Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­i­for­nia at Davis, where he received his Mas­ters in Food Sci­ence with an Enology/​Viticulture focus. He has been cre­at­ing wines in the Paso Rob­les region since 1978 and has cre­at­ed wines for Cas­toro Cel­lars since 1990.

Where the Wine is Made



The hus­band and wife team of Niels and Bim­mer Udsen estab­lished Cas­toro Cel­lars in 1983 with the goal of pro­duc­ing world-class wines from Paso Rob­les-appel­la­tion grapes. The Udsen’s first made and sold the wine, then pur­chased their own equip­ment, the win­ery, the tast­ing room, and then began pur­chas­ing and plant­i­ng vineyards.
